Abstract

Void Expanse is an open-world, science fiction action-RPG set in deep space. Players take on the role of a spaceship pilot and navigate the vast reaches of a random galaxy. You can mine asteroids for valuable resources, trade to improve your ship, complete story missions offered by one of several factions with their own agendas, advance your character through skill-trees, and engage in fast-paced combat with hostile aliens, mercenaries and pirates in the universe. The game is also very easy to mod.

Installation Guide

The Minerva

This was my first mod for VoidExpanse. I used it as my learning platform to modify existing assets and tweak the variables that affect the performance of ships in the game.

I wanted a powerful battleship than exceeded the capabilities of the existing heavy cruisers in the game, so I invented a story about a Dreadnaught class warship.


Mod Description

The Minerva is a dreadnaught class warship designed to fire the BFG. It has two primary fixed energy weapon mounts and two swivel launcher mounts to protect the flanks. The dreadnaught comes with its own power generators to support a number of onboard systems. It has powerful cruise engines for quick escapes... or ram an enemy ship! The ship has no cargo space as it is occupied by fuel and energy storage cells.

The ship comes with energy capacitors to store energy that none of the default ships in the game have. I used this to allow my energy weapons to be somewhat unique to the existing game's energy weapons. It also means no other ship can use them.
